Consultation has concluded
This survey will be open from 01 to 22 December.
Tunbridge Wells Borough Council is exploring the idea of re-introducing a Farmers Market in the north of Royal Tunbridge Wells town centre.
Our intention is to provide residents and visitors with an additional, regular reason to visit the town centre, thereby increasing footfall for our retail and hospitality businesses. As an independent Farmers Market, the focus would be on the sale of high-quality food and drink along with craft goods from local producers and traders.
The market would be run by an independent company/organisation with appropriate experience and resource, selected through a procurement exercise.
The Farmers Market would be held one Sunday each month between 10am to 4pm (approximately), avoiding the dates of markets operating in the Pantiles.
The location for the market stalls could include some/all of the following streets:
• Calverley precinct
• Clocktower/Fiveways area
• Mount Pleasant Road (north of Monson Road)
• Civic Way (outside the Town Hall/Amelia Scott)
To be viable, the market is likely to incorporate approximately 50 to 70 stalls.
At this stage we are particularly seeking the views of businesses in the northern part (‘top-end’) of Royal Tunbridge Wells to see if there is support for a Farmers Market along the lines described above. We also want to find out if there are any issues of concern that would need to be addressed to make the market successful and ensure that it would complement the local businesses already trading in the town centre.
Therefore, we would be grateful if you could respond to the short survey below:
