Tunbridge Wells Borough Council is consulting on a proposed Traffic Regulation Order that would introduce new parking restrictions on sections of Fir Tree Road, Tunbridge Wells.
The proposal aims to address concerns about all-day parking and increase the availability of parking spaces for visitors to the Common. Under the proposed changes, parking on specified sections of Fir Tree Road would be limited to a maximum stay of four hours between 8am and 6pm, with no return permitted within four hours. The restrictions would apply to sections of both the east and west sides of the road north of the junction with Major Yorks Road.
The consultation documents include a public notice, statement of reasons, draft order and location plan showing the areas affected by the proposed restrictions. Residents, businesses and other interested parties are encouraged to review the proposals and provide their views.
Full details can be viewed online from 15 October 2026 or inspected in person at The Amelia Scott, Mount Pleasant Road, Tunbridge Wells.
Anyone wishing to support or object to the proposal can submit comments by email to TROResponses@tunbridgewells.gov.uk or in writing to Parking Services, Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, Town Hall, Tunbridge Wells, TN1 1RS.
Please note that objections should explain the impact the proposal would have on traffic in the local area. Responses must be received by 12 noon on Monday 9 November 2026.
