Tunbridge Wells Borough Council is asking residents and local groups for their views on a draft document called the Statement of Community Involvement (SCI). This document explains how the Council will involve people in planning decisions, such as creating the Local Plan, considering planning applications, supporting neighbourhood plans, and dealing with planning appeals or unauthorised developments.
The Council is updating the SCI because the last version was written in 2020, and it’s important that people understand when, where and how they can have their say on planning matters. While the Council does not legally have to consult on this document, it has chosen to do so to make sure the approach is clear, inclusive and works well for everyone.
The consultation runs from 10 April to 22 May 2026. During this time, anyone can read the draft document and share their comments online, by email, or by post. Paper copies are also available in local public buildings.
