Tunbridge Wells Borough Council is asking for feedback on an updated Local Validation List, which sets out what information people need to submit when applying for planning permission. The aim is to make sure these requirements are clear, reasonable, and up to date, following the adoption of the new Local Plan.
The consultation is not about planning policies themselves, but about the documents and information required to support planning applications. The list includes both national requirements (which apply everywhere in England) and local requirements (which depend on the type, size, or location of a development).
Residents, developers, and other stakeholders are invited to comment on whether the proposed changes are easy to understand, proportionate, and properly supported by policy.
The consultation runs for six weeks, from 8 May to 12 June 2026, and responses must be submitted within that period.
People can take part online, where they can comment on specific parts or the whole document. Paper copies are also available at local locations such as The Amelia Scott, or by request. Feedback can additionally be submitted by email or post.
Overall, this is an opportunity for the public to help shape how planning applications are checked and assessed in the borough.
