Notice of Variation of Charges - Car Parks and On Street

Investing in our car parks

We are making a significant investment in our car parks to keep them safe and attractive for our customers.

Increases to parking charges from October 2025 will ensure that car park users contribute to this investment, rather than the full cost falling on the taxpayer.

We are already partway through a £9m project to refurbish Royal Victoria Place car park. Future improvement projects are planned for Torrington and Great Hall car parks.

The Council is committed to improving residents’ lives and supporting local shops and businesses, providing safe, attractive, accessible car parks and parking for our residents and visitors.
